Basic kit that you need
- Brew Bin, 6 gallons, £12.00
- Syphon tube, £1.50
- Bubbler, £1.50
- Bottles, £30.00
- and Capper, £12.00
- or Barrel, £25.00
Total £57.00 for bottling, £40.00 for barreling.
Consumables for your first brew
- Beer kit, £10.00
- Sanitiser, £0.50 (you need about 40g, and 400g costs £5.00)
- Dishwasher cycle £0.10 (for the electricity)
- Bottle caps (40) £1.50
- Sugar (1kg) £0.80

So, to brew your first batch of beer and bottle it will cost you approximately £70.00. This works out at £1.75 a pint. Your next batch will cost you £13.00, which is £0.32 per pint.
I would suggest that you start with bottling, especially if you have a dishwasher. A dishwasher simplifies the sanitising of the bottles, and a barrel of beer will go flat if you don't drink it quickly (although you can buy CO2 canisters to keep the condition).
